So I gave up Publishers Clearinghouse for Lent and went back to it after Easter and got really bored with it of late.  Since the current Superprize wrapped up today, I'm throwing in the towel for a while.

My boredom and Research Addiction is trying to fill in the blanks on my Hackett Continuum history and world setting. The results so far...

* Firefox and Firefox Down
* The Hunt For Red October
* First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part II
* Missing In Action
* Uncommon Valor
* Blue Thunder (the movie AND the TV series)
* Airwolf (through the second season)
* Deal Of The Century
* Team Yankee
* 007: For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, Never Say Never Again and View To A Kill

I think I want to include Best Defense as well, but want to see it again first.

EXCLUDED
* Commando

* Top Gun

I'm on the fence about some "properties" simply because of their relevance or timeframes.

Let's see:

*) I don't have a paying job and I'm broke.

*) I've gotta stick around Rather Manor to help Mum with her problems. We MAY have submitted one of her books to a publisher for a reprint tonight, but we won't know for a while whether the effort was successful.

*) I play too many games online. I wish I could get as excited about something that actually made me a living.

*) Since I don't have money, I don't have much in the way of reasons to travel, and of course, no point in travelling very far when I do.

*) My Internet situation, while more stable than it was, is still lacking in functionality. I haven't been able to upload certain kinds of data from this computer to the 'Net. Thus I may have to give up the Reviewer Corps, or (more likely) find a workaround of one kind or another.

Sagittarius Horoscope for week of January 13, 2011

I can almost categorically guarantee that in 2011 you will have no encounters with fire demons, wart-ridden vampires, two-headed dogs, moaning ghosts, wayward werewolves, or extraterrestrial robots. Nope. You can pretty much go ahead and make plans based on the assumption that you won't have to account for intrusions like that. But I can also assure you that the lack of crazy encounters with unhinged monsters does not mean your life will suffer from blahs or boredom. On the contrary: I think this could be one of your most interesting years in a decade. To prepare yourself, make sure you don't unconsciously equate adventure with chaos; imagine what it would be like to experience mystery and intrigue that uplift you.

Darn. Some of my best friends are exterrestrial robots.

Sagittarius Horoscope for week of November 18, 2010

Your old self is the fuel you will use to burn your old self to the ground. This bonfire will liberate your new self, which has been trapped in a gnarly snarl deep inside your old self. It's only at first that you'll feel freaked out by the flames. Very quickly a sense of relief and release will predominate. Then, as the new you makes its way to freedom, escaping its cramped quarters and flexing its vital force, you will be blessed with a foreshadowing of your future. The intoxication that follows will bring you clarity and peace of mind.

This reminds me of the denouement of the movie version of The Wiz, which I thought was overblown, overlong, and boring. Not sure that I necessarily want that.

...Completely failed to deliver anything truly worth blogging about.

At least boredom beats trauma in terms of karmic comfort zones.

...Other than the fact that we ate dinner an hour early for no reason whatsoever.

I want to do A, but A is only on King Kong. And so is B. And so is D, E and F. (I never learned C programming, alas.)

PS: Got a call back from Computer King. They will backup all my data and flatline the hard drive. And then reinstall the OS and the data.

I play a lot of Spider Solitaire. I used to play Cubis2 a lot as well, but I'm kinda bored with it now.

...When I can't get to do anything I want to do or that's worth doing. It's dreary and chilly and rainy and blah. Granted, lots of other people in the world have it much worse than I do, but that fact is little consolation.

Over on Facebook I posted a link to the Jimmy Buffett song "Boat Drinks". Decided not to re-post it here for various reasons.

I'm stuck here in a house where 2/3rds of the water pipes are frozen and there's not much to do worth doing. We have the football game on, but it's two teams we care very little about and chances are whoever wins will be beaten by the next team they face.

CHUCK returns for the premiere of its third season tonight. I hope I can stay functional up to then.

This weekend seems to have the worst of both the worlds of a holiday weekend and an ordinary one. I feel less free, less motivated and less energized. If I knew why, I'd make a habit of avoiding it on a regular basis.

The Americanized Godzilla was just on whatever that network is, the one that also carries the WWE Wrestling and that. Anyway, I was so underengaged that when the Navy was bombing Madison Square Garden, I was thinking can they even DO that with Harpoon missiles? Are those FAE warheads?

And in the finale when Godzi was trapped in the cables and the F-18s were shooting it was those must be Slammer rockets because if he's cold-blooded then there wouldn't be anything for Sidewinders to lock onto. How much heat would you need to target a Sidewinder, anyway?

I'm too old and too much into reality to just enjoy the scene, you know what I mean?

This This.

Noticed that there is an affiliate linked to the FOX station here in Knox. Looks like it's only been up a couple weeks. Mediocre movies. Fuddy duddy shows from passe decades. Cartoons of dubious lineage. Typical TV these days.

LINKED because nobody wants to be EMBED with those mean-looking doggies.

Very little of personal significance has happened today. I did reconnect with an old high school classmate via Facebook, but beyond that...nada.
