On television in general or on television AND I get to actually watch it?

In the first catagory: Top Gear (original UK, please?), Torchwood, Doctor Who, Burn Notice (all of which I'm lucky to catch on recorded video).

Stuff I get to watch: CHUCK, Criminal Minds, Person Of Interest.

Back when I was a more active otaku I used to joke that we (my friends and I) wanted "Super Dimensional" lives but were probably more likely to get "Rumik World" ones. The problem with the "cool" stories is that they're also horribly dangerous ones. I love Chuck, but would you want to live in a Burbank where if you go to the big-box store for a barrel of cheese balls, you could wind up in a fight with master super spies? I love Criminal Minds, but would you want to be in a situation in which the BAU may be your only hope of surviving? Burn Notice is great--but would you want to live around these characters? Life On Mars...cool, but I don't know the British version. (In fact, my own "Hackett Continuum" was going to have some thematic parallels.)

I know this doesn't answer your question. Let's just say I'm still chewing on it.

CHUCK and Criminal Minds are the only dramatic shows I follow these days. I'd probably be a driver in a traffic jam, or filling balloons for a party scene.

Answer to #1) CHUCK.

Answer to #2) Numb3rs.

Answer to #3) The show that will replace $#!+ My Dad Says when it is kicked off the air.

CBS Announces The Cancellation of Seven Prime-Time Shows including Numb3rs.

Granted, the show ended with the high note of Charlie marrying his long-time lover Amita and taking a new assignment at Oxford, but I will really miss its presense. Rob Morrow is moving on to ABC's The Whole Truth, which looks to have a lot of topspin. David Krumholtz' follow-up Tax Man wasn't picked up by FOX, but I imagine FOX will keep it handy as a possible replacement, the risks being what they are these days. The others in the cast are already showing up in guest roles in other series, so the news isn't so bad...but I'll miss Numb3rs.

Meanwhile, I hear that The Big Bang Theory was picked up for syndication, so it'll run "daily" re-runs in addition to its weekly CBS prime-time slot. I'm not a fan myself, but I know a lot of people who are. (My prime-time of choice now is CHUCK and Criminal Minds.)

Over on Facebook I posted a link to the Jimmy Buffett song "Boat Drinks". Decided not to re-post it here for various reasons.

I'm stuck here in a house where 2/3rds of the water pipes are frozen and there's not much to do worth doing. We have the football game on, but it's two teams we care very little about and chances are whoever wins will be beaten by the next team they face.

CHUCK returns for the premiere of its third season tonight. I hope I can stay functional up to then.

Yesterday was the first day in a long time that I failed to post a Livejournal entry. Kind of busy today. Knoxville Scale Modelers, running around Knoxville with Aleks, and so on.

As a postscript to the entry about Gatchaman toys:

Is This A Trailer? Looks Like One )

While at the HobbyTown, they had the '80s Muzak on and I heard Devo's "Peek A Boo" for the first time since it was a hit. I wanted to have the Vending Machine of Awesome present it, but 1) Warner Music is being a snoid about the studio version 2) the studio video isn't exactly "safe for work". Nothing wrong with the song tho'. I want Jeffster to perform it sometime on Chuck's coming season because it practically screams "Intersect"!

Had an idea overnight to put lady's old antenna underneath the new one on the mast and splice the coax lines, so we'd somehow get the signals from one or the other. We tried it. Didn't work.

I think we need Charles, Charlie AND Chuck.

Lady's TV set is now getting only analogue channels from a rabbit-ears antenna. We've gotta do better than that.

In other news, I'm planning a trip to Kentucky.

Saw the season premiere of Chuck tonight. Well, very well worth waiting for.

Anybody know if someone did fanfic crossover(s) with Numb3rs? It would be a mind-bender but it could be fun if done the right way.

Yes. Chuck. I'm talking about the new NBC action comedy show. Just saw the first episode...in which the titular character becomes the Man Who Knows Too Much, and then goes on to Save the World with Pr0n. It's funnier than it sounds, and promises to be this generation's Get Smart, only smarter.
