Plan To Scan? Well...
Went to a seminar from Artec 3D on Friday afternoon. I'm very impressed with their machines--but I'm so far behind on the tech that I'd have to spend loads of money to get caught up again.
Now The Story Can Be Droned

So my brother gave me a Bebop 2 Drone as a gift, and my task from here is getting it operational. So I bought a Beboncool Bluetooth gamepad/controller to work with my Smartphone and the Bebop. More to come.
So What Happened After That
No sooner did I make my previous post as my brother-in-law reminded me of something that I had forgotten. As a result I was able to get my data off the old hard drive. Not all of it, but enough of it to put me back in business--and I can transfer more of it if necessary.
Now I'm wondering what programs I should get to replace the ones I "lost", as I've gone from Win10 32-bit to Win10 64-bit. Complicating matters is the fact that this computer is now old enough that I ought to plan on an upgrade sooner rather than later. I don't like this obsolescence thingy very much.

So What Happened
Test Post, New And Improved?
Useless Fact
Don't mind the above thingy. I'm just doing that to enter a sweepstakes.
Fifteen Meg On A Deadframe's Chest...
Got an external case for the hard drive of the long-departed computer FrankIntel's Monster today. And the old drive still seems to work. I hooked it up to Precious, got my Aidfile Recovery Pro running, and it was recognizing old data...
...but wouldn't actually start recovering the data without me bubbling in my activation key to Recovery Pro. I thought I'd done that years ago when I obtained the program. My options now: wait till Giveaway of the Day re-offers it and get a new key that way, or pay $70 to Aidfile for a new license to the program. Or hope that one of the OTHER recovery programs also works and has a valid activation key in place.
RUM-inating on the theme for a while.
Repairings
Now I'm trying to get caught back up to things. I probably won't do too much of this though...it's supposed to be vacation time!
Randomnity, Again
*) Zvezda in Russia promises that there will be new kits in their Art of Tactic series that will be scale compatible with Wings of Glory WW2...and I'm particularly interested in the Bristol Blenheim bombers. Well, with the politics between Stateside and Moscow being what they are, I shouldn't expect to get these very quickly.
*) REIGN on CW is a mess. It's supposed to be historical but their visual RNA for scenery, props, costuming and casting is jarringly off-the-mark. Or, at least, I THINK it's supposed to be historical.
Upgradation
Hello Motorola NVG510 Wi-Fi DSL Gateway. Rather Manor now is U-Versatile.
Which means that I will be using this computer a lot more and maybe even posting actual posts on this blog more as well.
It took a lot of effort and money to get us here, and I'm very grateful for it, even if it means we have to scale back other plans we'd had this season.
A Moonshine By Any Other Name...
AUTORIA is a company that specializes in rebadging kits for cars built in Asia. Their target users are those with Daewoos and KIAs who want to somehow redeem their "face" with their neighbors. So the company offers the option of rebranding your car as a TIGRIS with new nameplates and new insignia.
In theory I could rebrand Moonshine in a similar fashion. I'm motivated by the fact that under current Tennessee law, my car is old enough to be sold to a scrapper without the title or other ownership paperwork, thus my car is a possible target for thieves looking for a quick buck. So if I could somehow make my vehicle look newer...or just different enough to make a thief believe that stealing it would be more trouble than it's worth...it would help me a great deal.
From Last Night's 60 MINUTES
There was a part that meshed directly with the "firmware" portion of POI's Machine. Law offices, prosecutor and defender divisions are now commonly using analytical computers to research cases and collect evidence in the "discovery" phase. How much you want to bet that The Machine already is looking in on every single one of these systems to tell who's being investigated...and who's doing the investigating? Maybe even to recruit potential future assets?
Lines Of Demarcation
SMARTPHONE duties:
*) Facebook. Even though actual posting is easier on the PC (as well as access to archives), it's easier to check the ongoing activity with the smartphone...even if the Facebook app is lacking (it works better to use Chrome).
*) YouTube. Granted, the hair trigger on the phone itself makes it tough to navigate, and for some reason the app lacks features you need (it works better to use Chrome), but I seem to save a lot of data use by playing videos over the Smartphone. It won't play everything, tho'.
*) Dropbox. I'm still learning it, and it needs a Wi-Fi source for it to be efficient, but it streamlines use of the phone's camera, and I may play around with video shooting thanks to Dropbox.
PC duties:
*) E-Mail. The smartphone app is wonky; using Chrome on the smartphone at Hotmail is tedious and needlessly limited in functionality.
*) LiveJournal. I can read my Friends' page on the mobile version, but that's about it.
*) PCH.com and all Flash-based content providers. No Flash support on Android phones whatsoever.
More to come.

Elegy For An Electronic
The fate of Emerson's carcass is yet undetermined. My first thought is to donate it to the Tech School's electronics program, but I expect they have no lack of such material. Every January Knoxville holds an e-waste drive, so it will probably go there if no better alternative presents itself. I'll find out tomorrow.
If any among you still require a digital converter box, the one we used with the Emerson is still in fully operational condition, and I have re-set it, its cables and its remote, into the packaging in which it had come. Contact me privately if you want it.

Maintenance (Kiffiescope?)
Dad calls mechanic he knows #1--"Sorry, I've got a bunch of projects lined up. Be at least a couple weeks.'
Mechanic he knows #2--"I'm busy this weekend. Be out of town too."
I mentioned the place where we got Moonshine's new tires and Dad decides against that. So today he took Moonshine over towards Panther Creek...
New AAMCO shop!
MOONSHINE: Hey! Pull in here!
DAD: Okay, just a moment.
And so Dad tells them about the problems I'd had with the car, and the mechies look her over and get to working...
MECHIE: Two new front rotors! Reconditioned CV axle! And a new brake pad!
MOONSHINE: Eeee...
(Dad's in the lounge getting a cup of tea...)
MECHIE: Clean out and inspect the rear brakes!
MOONSHINE: Ohhhh...
(Dad's getting his shoes shined...)
MECHIE: New spark plugs and plug wiring!
MOONSHINE: Ahhh...
(Dad gets a back massage...)
Of course this takes all afternoon. Finally he gets back to Rather Manor and shows me the invoice.
DAD: 12 month guarantee on all the work.
ME: And you got $50 in discounts!?
He always manages to find good customer service. I'll have to take Moonshine for a test drive overmorrow.
Recycling
I'm playing around with the paper model files again. I wonder about the hobby possibilities of poster printer hardware. Who can I ask about that?
