Sorry for not posting more often...the weather has been awful to my connectivity.

A week or so ago, I went to a car dealer's promo event and won...a Tennessee Lottery scratch-off ticket. So today, I go to a convenience store to redeem it, get another scratch-off ticket, bring it back to Rather Manor, scratch it, and I've won...yet another scratch-off ticket.

I neither win nor lose.

Though some would say, after what I've already lost this year, karmically this may be an improvement.

Universal Studios is celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year by having a Sweepstakes on Facebook. The prize is FREE DVDs and Blu-Ray disks from their catalog, which is considerable. I went to their website just now to see exactly what I would want from them in the event of my success, or barring that, coming into a flow of cash to allow me to purchase my desired content.

I came up with about seventy titles, a mix of film sets and TV show seasons for the most part. A lot of the material shows up on Universal's TV channels, namely TH¡S and Retro.

Depending on how they count, I'd think I'd even have to find more titles to get if I won. Which, I suppose, is better than having to choose between existing favorites.

Peculiar thing...Publisher's Clearing House is currently having a sweepstakes with the prize being "$3,000,000 in cash to put towards a Dream Home". The first thought I had would be that I would be more satisfied with a dozen $250,000 homes scattered around the nation (or the world) than with just one top-of-the-line house no matter where it is.

I got one of these as a door prize at a car dealership's promotion overday. It's about the size of a Hershey's miniature bar and "retails" at about $15. Because it isn't Solid Gold.

[Previously posted on my Facebook webpresense:]

It's Publisher Clearinghouse Sweepstakes time. I get a mailing teasing me about a $3 Million Dream Home--but somehow I think I'd be happier with a dozen $250K homes, scattered about the nation/world. What would $250,000 US get a fella where you are?

There are a bunch of them in rotation and no one song is dominant.

Nobody, as yet, has uploaded to YouTube Susan Lucci's TV commercial for Sweet One from 1989.

This is cultural injustice. Really now.

No. I don't believe anything I watch is nominated for any awards.

PS: It's on FOX, which cuts down the odds even more that I'd want to watch it. Got more interest in the Football game on NBC tonight.

My father received his Korean War Service Medal from the Pentagon this weekend. No fancy presentation ceremony. He just sent them copies of his discharge papers telling them he was over there back then, along with the form. The medal came in a large envelope along with a document of gratitude from the Republic of Korea. The last time Dad wore any of his medals, he was giving a speech to his alma mater high school's graduating class a couple years ago. At least it seems that long ago.

Hey.

Decided to do this again, partly because I've gotten new Friends...and partly 'cause I liked it the first time:

Frustratedpilot in Noun Again
[livejournal.com profile] frustratedpilot (Hugo Weaving) has had a rumour-plagued term in office. After citing a blunder in the ballot design, his running mate's reputation is in serious doubt, and [livejournal.com profile] domain69, his primary informant (Jack Nicholson), is beside himself with glee. [livejournal.com profile] weds (Jessica Alba) arranges a game of corporate snakes and ladders, though the plot is obscured by the biggest coverup of them all.

Frustratedpilot in Michelangelo's Shoes
Despite numerous attempts by the government to conceal it, [livejournal.com profile] frustratedpilot (Eric Bana) moves to a town where computers control the lives of the townsfolk. Car chases result. Coincidentally, [livejournal.com profile] droolfangrrl (Kate Winslet) creates a robot named [livejournal.com profile] aurora77 (Cameron Diaz) to fix the situation, which only makes things worse. Montages and spy music set the scene for a rollercoaster ride of a film with a deadly twist!

Hey.

I, through a search of the Kenzerco Forum, just found out that I had been (post tense) nominated for a 2005 Kenzer Forum Award--but nobody told me about it! (I don't think anybody seconded my nomination, tho')

At least I got a Post of the Month Award and thus an elevation to Guru at the Antarctic Press official forum.

Sniff sniff...appreciation is such a wonderful thing.
