Hey.

The following is my side of a story that happened long enough ago (1999/2000) that I feel I can air it out now (from my archives):

Hey.

I, through a search of the Kenzerco Forum, just found out that I had been (post tense) nominated for a 2005 Kenzer Forum Award--but nobody told me about it! (I don't think anybody seconded my nomination, tho')

At least I got a Post of the Month Award and thus an elevation to Guru at the Antarctic Press official forum.

Sniff sniff...appreciation is such a wonderful thing.

Hey.

Online I often go to gamer hang-outs like the forum at Kenzerco.com, but I have to admit that I'm really not a gamer per se. That is to say, I'm more of a fan of games and a wanna-be rather than an actual player. I've been interested in the Role-Playing Game since at least high school--but I've only done about half a dozen actual runs, and now I lack both a place where I can play and other gamers I can run with.

As for computer games, well, I've never had the budget to get the latest hardware or software--and I have the additional curse of being limited to dial-up connectivity, which while better than nothing doesn't quite do it for online play.

So I sit on the sidelines while everybody else claims to be having fun. I fiddle a little with researching and designs for stuff and the occasional article, but I am so far out of the loop it must look ridiculous to anybody looking my direction.

In theory I have an impressive 28mm miniature army: a few score of figures, mostly from Warzone; plenty of vehicles, mostly Dollar Store toys...I could build terrain if I want...and there's no point in me doing any of it. Aside from not having any infantry I've got a killer Microarmor-scale force, loaded with Battletech robots and Epic Space Marine tanks...and I have no point in pursuing this either. I have computer games I can't run on my own computer because it's obsolete and by the time I get anything good enough to run them, the software will be passe. Over the years I've plunked hundreds of dollars on RPG modules that are now only collectors' items because the main game is superseded or unsupported. Where is the fun?

I'm going to ponder the above question a good long while.
