C'mon! What is my LJ handle? No brainer!

My first one and my current one are of the same subject--a Stavatti Stalma fighter jet. The real machine may never be built, so it's in the same position karmically that I myself am in--we'll only fly in our dreams and often not even then.

Played this record to death as a kid. )

Well, our record collection then tended to skew toward instrumental pop back then, as my mother and sister were active in the Majorette sport.

A source for flight-sim based movies.

One thing I've noticed: playback of a flight-sim run where the view is on the backside of the plane--the most BORING way to do it.

An idea (and I'm sure others who play flight sims have had it too)...a set of recamming algorhythms which would record a set of "tracks" and then allow, on playback, a quick and easy way to switch between them. Virtual camera planes, preset to track the action in visually interesting ways.

It probably can be done. I would wager that somebody is doing it. I don't know if commercial flight-sims offer it, 'cause I don't have any made after six years ago.

The virtual movie Faith, Hope and Charity, a flight-sim based narrative film.

Yes, I had the notion, someday, to attempt something in this vein. Not this subject matter, of course, but who knows?

Getting lost over urban Pinellas County on the way back to my "home" airport.

I still qualified as a "dumbjohn" then.

Again, not a mere joystick...I want yoke, quadrant, pedals and frikkin' dashboard. :(

...The same way the demos for 'One Must Fall: Battlegrounds' had... )

...But then I got the game, and could never play it.

FTR: It's Global ACE, a futuristic massive multi-user online air combat game, strongly reminiscent of the Yukikaze anime, the TV version of Area 88, Macross Plus, Battlestar Galactica, Tigers of Terra and the like. [ADDENDA:] It is also known as Air Rivals, Space Cowboy Online and Flysis. ACE Online is the version that includes North America; Air Rivals is the version for Europe and other locations.

If I had seen something like this when I was a kid, I would have both drooled AND cried myself to sleep.

Rest assured I won't try this myself anytime soon, my readers. If only for the practical matter that if somebody handed me $4000, I'd use it to pay off my car. Yes, I'm FPilot, but not desperately FPilot.

Hey.

Just stuff I want. Yes, I'd be all set if I could get some income; I've got two prospective irons in the fire, warming up. Anyway:

* Spycraft 2.0 RPG rulebook (I'll need it so I can play the upcoming Luftwaffe 1946 and Tigers of Terra RPGs once they come out)

* Big Eyes, Small Mouth 3rd Edition RPG (I've got 1st Ed plus a few of the modules...)

* The Big O and Enemy Ace action figures. A store I know has them both. As far as I'm aware, I'm probably the only one in a multi-county area who would want them.

* THREE of these:

Yes, it's a six-pack of 1/144th scale model kits. I could use them in Flames of War...and trade the ones I don't need to other players. The rules say that whatever plane my army has for support, I have to have three of the same type.

* The new Patti Smith CD.

* Slot cars. A store I know has Life-Like two-packs of the cars themselves. They'll fit on my thirty-year-old Tyco and Aurora track...and if I could get Life-Like adapter track, I could hook both tracks together for a monster layout! (My own cars have long since disappeared or been broken.

FP (who is well aware that he can live the rest of his life without any of this stuff)

What Power is Compatible With You? [beautiful anime pictures + 12 detailed results]

~*~Result nr 3~*~

Your power is: The ability to fly

Explanation: This powers speaks pretty much for itself. Though you don't need wings for this power, you can fly anyway. Some people may consider it as telekinesis since they can also fly, but you can't make material things move like they can. This ability could be a relaxing activity when you want to get away from everyday troubles. Also it is good when sneaking upon an enemy since it makes no sound. When going over to the "dark side" the power could be used to harrass and break into building through windows etc.
You are quite similar to this power since you like to have your head in the clouds. Supernatural things amuse while ordinary life does not. If your daydreaming has gotten a little too far you might be zooned out all the time, even when you are having a conversation. Your desires and/or goals tend to be unrealistic even if you know those would probably never happen. Travelling is something you would be interested in doing since seeing exotic scenery fits with your fantasies of escaping your plain life. You can also have some creative ability (writer, playing an instrumen etc) that interests you.
Negative aspects: The whole reason you may be escaping life could be fear of being let down by it. So if that would come to happen, and an important dream had been crushed you could get depressed.
