Frustrated Pilot's nemesis is Dr. Scribbles. Dr. Scribbles just appeared on the scene in the past month or so. Nobody knows what he's really up to, but be advised, it can't possibly be any good to anyone.
I don't have a catch-phrase. At least, one that I feel particularly fond of or is iconic of me.

In Florida (and probably elsewhere in the South), you hear stories about a ghoul called the Sickle Man, who supposedly wanders the wilds and farmlands with a large reaper blade that he uses to chop animals (as well as people who offend him) to little pieces.
If I were Stephen King, I would have written a novel about the Sickle Man, had it made into a big budget horror movie, and cleaned up financially. But I'm not.

Too Much TV
Oct. 26th, 2009 01:58 amWas flipping stations while awaiting a download when I came across a show on RTV I hadn't seen before. It was from the Sixties and it was about an Air Force jet bomber lost at sea and trying to re-connect with home base. Turned out to be Suspense Theater: "Streetcar, Do You Read Me?" with Martin Milner in the lead role.
This show was made the year before I was born. Easy to see how much things were different between then and now. Technology. Attitudes toward work and self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. How we saw the world. We can't tell stories that way today, too much has changed.
When I watch TV, I watch too much.

A-Ha, "The Sun Always Shines On TV"
Inspired by both our perpetual misadventure and by the season finale of Numb3rs.

The Season of Departures Continues
Jan. 16th, 2009 08:47 pmWhere Did Rumpole End And Jon Mortimer Begin?
FWIW, I would have loved to see an Equity Court series from the perspective of Liz Probert after Rumpole's retirement.

Just Like TV The Way It Used To Be--
Jan. 9th, 2009 12:00 am--It needs a good swift kick!
For some reason the Knoxville RTN affiliate's programming doesn't match what they have listed. And the signal is somewhat wonky (the sound volume is way down).
For those of you in areas that don't have RTN yet, I'll tell you about it: they have a library built around genre TV of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties. All those "hamburger" shows by Cannell, Belisarius and/or Larson. Western shows on Saturday noonish. The original Battlestar Galactica and the Gil Gerard Buck Rogers on Saturday night. They were supposed to be running the talk program Unreliable Sources the last hour, but instead they had an episode of the Rod Serling horror program Night Gallery.
RTN's web presense is also somewhat wonky, with www.rtnville.com unavailable and www.myretrotv.com still under construction. This is no way to run a network even if you do have Mr. T on your payroll. I pity the fools. :P

Why, I'm The Little Prince. I live on a tiny speck of crud out in the middle of nowhere, bossed by a rose and awaiting the migrating birds, who sometimes take me places worth going.
There is a part of me who wonders whether had St.Ex. survived WW2 he would have written more adventures about the boy from the stars.

A whim brought on by the inevitable thought of crossover fanfiction centered on Life On Mars, which is set in Manhattan. What PERIOD fictional crime shows/detective shows are available? Well, most of the contemporary shows were based on the West Coast, but a Wikipedia peek at telefictional New York in the 1972~'74 period gives us:
* Kojak
* Madigan
* McCloud and...
* Shaft--which was made into a TV series. Unfortunately, the fans of the Shaft movies didn't like the TV series version and it folded quickly.
I guess sometime soon I should look up some DVDs. In addition to the British version.
