Sagittarius Horoscope for week of February 4, 2016

Richard P. Feynman was a brilliant physicist who won a Nobel Prize in 1965 for his pioneering work in quantum electrodynamics. He also played the bongo drums and was a competent artist. But excessive pride was not a problem for him. "I'm smart enough to know that I'm dumb," he testified. "The first principle is that you must not fool yourself -- and you are the easiest person to fool." I suggest you adopt him as your role model for the next two weeks, Sagittarius. All of us need periodic reminders that we've got a lot to learn, and this is your time. Be extra vigilant in protecting yourself from your own misinformation and misdirection.

I applied to be a Delegate at one of the Presidential Election National Conventions overnight.  I'm not fooling myself in believing that I'll get my ticket--but I sort of feel that my chances are good.  We'll see in March.

"Everyone, attack!"

No, not really. We did have the Regional Convention, and I am NOT going to Charlotte. I'm happy for the five actual delegates to the DNCC, who are all very deserving. Especially a 19-year-old man named Jota; if there is any justice the media could make a star of him.

I sat beside Mike Dockery there; he is our County party chairman and he's running for office. He told me that if I were serious about going to the 2016 Convention, he would help me with the proper paperwork and networking. It's far too early to think about that yet, tho'.

...Whatever Flag They Offer--Mike & The Mechanics, "Silent Running"

I went to the local Democratic Party convention here today, just on an impulse to learn about it, and wound up becoming the official Delegate for my neighborhood. In two weeks, I'll go to the Regional convention and find out if I'll be going on to the National convention in Charlotte this summer.

Why? I've already got the card and they were short-handed by three people.

Going to a political national convention has been on my bucket list since childhood. I imagine my chances of going are slim but I still want the chance.

If I go, I'll bring you along somehow. Dunno just how, as yet, but I'll figure it out. I usually do.

I don't think it's possible. Americans hate one another so much now they'll never let anybody in office do anything great.

Decided to pull this out for a number of reasons. OKCupid has a political test on their site; this is my results, with an orientation correction (their left was our right, so I changed it back) and colorization. The horizontal dimension is Civil Liberty; the vertical dimension is Corporate/Economic Liberty. As you can see, I'm South of Center, on the border between Moderate Democratism and Moderate Socialism. Which is why I have a problem with the radicals on the various fringes of the issues these days.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force aerobatic demonstration team "August 1st" (*breath*) is re-equipping with J-10s this year, finally retiring the J-7s they've used for decades. Partly because of the embrace of new ideas, and partly because of the poor public reaction to the initial paint scheme shown on scale models at the first press release of the news, the PLAAF is holding a popularity contest to choose the new paint scheme from four candidates.

The scheme that was rejected (called the "White Rabbit Candy Wrapper" by wags):

PS: Also this month, the PLAAF retired the last unit of J-6s (MiG-19 "Farmer") they had in service. They'd been flying them for fifty years--and the planes had allegedly been obsolete for forty of them depending on who you asked.

"Don't underestimate the Republican AND Democratic national parties' ability to provide an unending supply of scumbags to replace those voted out of office and perpetuate the status quo for their big-money masters."

Hey.

I got in on Early Voting and cast my ballot for the General Election. From here on my LJ will be a Politics-Free Zone.

Meanwhile, at the IPMS/USA local meeting last night I met Paul Francis of Lucas Francis...and after voting I went to his studio which is only a couple miles from my house.

I'll probably be there a lot from now on. I now have a reason to get up mornings.

PS: So this guy is responsible for what happened HERE? I wonder if I was running into him left and right before last night. I guess you know how it is...you regard strangers much much differently than you regard known neighbors and friends.

I haven't heard one ad or speech from the man I'm planning to vote for Prez; can you think of a better reason to vote for somebody?

I plan to do the business on Wednesday, when the Early Voting polls open here in Tennessee.

This question doesn't work for me. I consider the party system to be undemocratic and a corrupting influence on politics in general and national politics in particular. I wish it were possible to abolish all the parties and allow people to vote their conscience and only their conscience.

What I've been journaling about )

Meanwhile, I should remind everybody that I have NOT been talked out of voting for Brian Moore for President yet. I invite anybody who may have a good reason to come here and participate. I will repeat this message often until I feel adequately pursuaded or Election Day, which ever comes first.

We have early voting in Tennessee and the State Primary is coming up, so I visited the Election Commission office today and got my vote in.

One of the U.S. Senators here is running for re-election, and the important issue is who runs against him. Beyond that, this election is mainly about judge candidates and referendi.

I voted yes on all the judges and on a referendum to raise taxes. The schools here kinda need the money.

Today is the State Primary in Tennessee...so I voted. It's a shame that for many positions, the Republicans are running unopposed. How do we get more socially-active Democrats here to vote for? Don't ask me to run, I'm a socially-untouchable Democrat.

Habits on voting:

If somebody tries to glad-hand me on the way into the polling place, I'll vote for the competing candidate.

I usually vote YES on all the judges. If they all want the job, they should be stuck with it.

I try to research the referendi before I vote on them. There weren't any this time, thank goodness.
