Three of these four Eighties classics played over the Muzak in recent days, and I just have to give the credit/blame to Mum's ghost. I'm linking rather than embedding just because I have too much other stuff to do.

Tho' Paul (As Front Man For Wings) Is A Very Close #2 )

Hmm...this version totally lacks the brass backup section from the single--and doesn't miss it. Just like the Doobie Brothers' "Black Water" is infinitely improved if the fiddler is left out. ;)

...Either get a bigger budget or lay off the frickin' irony.

The clinic where I've been getting my mental health screening has "good time oldies" radio on its Muzak in the waiting room.

Which means, that as a result of history, I get to hear THE EXACT SAME MUSIC I heard in the doctors' offices, school clinics and principal's office queues thirty years ago (when it was what "adult contemporary" radio stations played). Guess what?--I've blogged about this stuff before!

It's like a TV show when ten seasons on, they dust off an old script or premise and make it again in the hopes that nobody notices. Only my life doesn't come with a laugh track and I certainly don't find it amusing.

I am conflicted about the outcome of this "expedition", in all seriousness. It's one thing to be told "Oh yes, you were right all along." And it's another for them to tell me "Actually there isn't anything really wrong with you." I'm afraid that solving this dilemma will only set other dilemmas in front of me. And then what?

This time, it's NBC and their (Thugs On Film) One-Rolex (/Thugs On Film) coverage of the Princess Diana tribute concert. An all-day event and the Peacock only gives us most of one hour of it, counting commercial breaks. Only enough time for one song from less than half of the acts that appeared, except for Reg (Elton John), who got two.

My thinking is if it had been FOX handling the event, they would have used all four hours of Sunday Prime-Time to give this show the time it deserved.

I fear for the upcoming Live Earth, which will also be carried by NBC.
