And I heartily endorse this proposal as I both own a modest wad of common stock and am the son of a sorceress.

Yes, I know dreams are supposed to be weird...but like this?

* The mother of one of my friends was revealed to be a fugitive from justice. She was the culprit in a crime of passion and her circle of friends created a new identity for her so she could hide from the law.

* Somebody asked me if my Dad was proficient with using a guillotine. I said I doubted it, but he could have been the boss of a firing squad if one had been needed.

* There is a machine gun that shoots dimes. It can throw out thousands of dollars a minute and chew through bank vault walls. A gunsmith built the first one so he could assassinate his company's loansharks in an appropriate manner...but the ATF has bought hundreds of them and will have them on the streets soon.

Reaction, I've seen, has been universally negative to the name change. I've read the on-line letter column for the network for years (it's probably dead now) and it seems this network more than others no only fails to listen to their core audience, but despises it to the point they want to self-destruct the network for its own good. I doubt any good would come of such a thing.

And I don't have cable.

The Acai Berry Trade Promotes Child Abuse.

It does. Look up the lyrics for "Linstead Market".

PS: I really hate the jingle for the Create Network.

...To convince me that WE'RE not evil. And then do the same for everybody else in the world.

One of the local TV stations was showing Rambo III this afternoon and I was thinking first that old saw about my nation's enemy's enemies...

...And have now arrived on the concept of somebody, somewhere, is now shooting a movie in which a heroic (Russian? North Korean? Cuban? Iranian? Venezuelan?) is going around Afganistan blowing away those evil-beyond-redemption, thrice-hated Americans and their local lackeys.

I've asked you before whether you believe that Americans are not evil, and I've been left unconvinced every time. Perhaps we karmically deserve our economy to fail, and our bridges collapsing into rivers, and our waste piles overflowing, and our criminals running amok. How can I believe otherwise?

Perhaps one of the finest anthems to come out of the geek rock of the Eighties.

Memento meme:

I have so many people on my LJ I sometimes forget how I know some of you. Whether because of an evil plot or because of Keith Szarabajka. Tell me how I know you in at most three sentences. Post this in your journal for other folks to do the same.

(Well, I have been longtime buddies with most of you anyway, so only a few need actual replies.)

How evil are you?

You know that Road to Hell? I'm a toll taker. I wish I had a cut of the profits.

PS: Just finished watching The Red Spectacles. If you've seen the animated Jin-Roh or have read the Dark Horse comics version of Hellhounds--you probably won't like this movie.

That said, this movie is very Samuel Beckett-ish. It's a strange mix of stylization, poetry, and farce/satire. It deconstructs its own plot and premises. It deconstructs its own situations. It wavers between the characters being characters and them being actors on stages. It plays with the ideas of politics and society--teases the thematics--and then drops the subject of being about ANYTHING completely.

Well, on to Stray Dog...

The other day, I figured out a really great way to totally destroy Western Civilization as we know it. Almost all the pieces are in place to do it too. And it would also be impossible to defend against, its damage would be measured in millions of lives lost, cities (maybe whole countries!) wiped off the face of the Earth, all that jazz. Almost as bad as the last great extinction event millions of years ago.

I'm not going to say another word about the idea unless I find somebody willing to pay me hard currency for it. Sure, I have reason to be pissed at the world, but I'm not THAT pissed.
