Burt Wolf said "there are no good foods or bad foods, only appropriate and inappropriate serving portions." Seeing that I'm in America where the only forbidden foods are human flesh and the flesh of pet animals and/or endangered species, I wouldn't think of imposing outright bans...but I would want some top limits set on the portions served by restaurants and fast food franchises and such. Bars cut patrons off when they've had their limit of alcoholic drinks, so why not set a calorie ceiling? If somebody is still hungry, they can still get food someplace else, but they'd have to do some WALKING first.

1) Not a Wal*Mart, a Home Depot. So shows me Google StreetView.

2) The Venus Diner was sold in 2006 and moved to Cleveland according to sources. Gibsonia, you did NOT know what you had when you had it!

Back in college I said I'd buy a beer for Roscoe Turner when I was asked a question like this.

What's weird about my existance is that yes, I admire a good number of people, arguably famous ones, but at the same time I feel that I don't care much about their personal lives and don't mind if I never get the chance to meet them. It's not that I'm afraid of them not living up to my "hero worship". It's just that if the roles were reversed, I doubt I'd want a load of hangers on/stalkers/fanatics attempting to plug themselves into my life. So I guess I don't think in the terms given in this question.

Besides, the last time I saw a celeb in person, I had the pleasure of saying "Hi", addressing him by his first name and saying "It's nice to see you again"--and the look on his face when he tried to figure out who I was. It was the third time I'd seen him in person...but we hadn't been actually introduced. It's a long story, and fodder for a full-fledged blog entry someday.

I think Randy Milholland had the right idea with his fictional diner "OMG...FOOD!" in his webcomic "Something Positive".

Hey.

1) When my Mom and Dad came back from church, they brought back some plates and soup dishes that had previously belonged to a Ruby Tuesday restaurant. One of the parishioners is an employee there and she got them because the whole chain is phasing in new china, so the old china had to go--one way or another. The plates are so big we'll more than likely use them as serving platters for messy food (as the edges are raised at a substantial angle). The soup dishes look big too. But I did a little check...they only hold about eight ounces of liquid before the level gets to the inner edge. Whereas the dishes we use now for soup hold at least three times that.

So keep this in mind. Restaurants want you to think you're getting a lot of food, when in fact they're only lending you a lot of crock. :)

2) I'll update my previous blog about 1/144th scale airplane models for Flames of War. Found out more stuff about them tonight.
