Sagittarius Horoscope for week of January 7, 2010

In a million years, I would never authorize you to unleash your naked greed and give it unconditional license to careen through the world gobbling and acquiring and appropriating. However, due to an odd blip in the astrological configurations, I am at liberty to give you permission to unleash your discerning, elegant greed and grant it a temporary dispensation to sample more than usual of anything that captivates your ravenous imagination.

In a bizarre coincidence, I've suddenly come into an opportunity this week that will put just the wrong amount of money in my pocket. We'll see what happens.

I'd consider it very suspect if my prospective romantic partner had MY taste in music. Of course, it depends on what exactly the other person is really into. And if we can open both our minds to new experiences, the chances are better we can get along. But if they want me to give up everything that I like and not change in return, I'll walk and not look back.

The current storyline on the webcomic Shortpacked! is about the "remastering" that ABC did to the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers...the exact way done to the first season of Transformers to make "Generation 2" years ago.

Well, the subject creeped to "what fandom defined your childhood?", a question I tried to answer by looking at a Wikipedia Saturday Morning TV schedule from the year before I entered Kindergarten. To my dismay, very very little that year was "new". In fact, the "new" was really the same-old-same-old. Hanna-Barbera and Filmation and Sid & Marty Krofft doing whatever they wanted. Reruns of MGM/WB/Universal short cartoons from the preceding four decades. Animated retreads of past primetime hits/pop culture. Everything I was supposed to be "into" had already been around from before I was born.

No wonder I felt like I wanted something that was my own.

Dad was watching the early Seventies Western movie Chato's Land on TH¡S tonight. In it, Charles Bronson is a renegade Indian being chased by a posse led by Jack Palance. As I looked in between my Internet activities, he told me "It's almost over; there's only a couple guys left in the posse."

And I told him, "If Charles Bronson is being hunted by other men, he'll usually kill them all and get away with it."
