1) My nephew Egan has been staying here this week. Most of his time is alternating between playing Star Wars Lego on the Wii and reading C.S. Lewis Narnia novels. He sleeps in the guest room, which means I can't do any work on my assignment model for IPMS. Yes, we are trying to get him involved in the outside world here, but he won't have none of it. He is very much like I was at his age...and it still worries me a little.

2) Moonshine is in the shop. The resistor for the heater/air conditioner dashboard fan needs to be replaced. In another "Raiders of the Lost Part" safari, Dad and I went to Hillbilly's Auto Parts junkyard in Strawberry Plains for the replacement resistor. We got it for $5, which is a great magnitude better than the $33 the Chevy dealer wanted to charge for a brand-new part, special ordered and shipped and handled. We're having our usual shade-tree mechanic do the work because it goes under the dashboard and that means some tricky finagling with the air bags.

3) I've set a job interview appointment for Tuesday morning in Asheville. Only I have absolutely no idea where in town it is. So I'll need to contact Bro overday.

4) I'm trying to decide what I want for my Midnight Snack. Looks like it's going to be Cinnamon Toast.

And I Won't Break/And I Won't Bend... )

* * *

I gave Davison a definite "Don't call us, we'll call you" about my invention this morning. Which was only fair. Besides, they're morning people and I'm not. (I think that distinction is important.)

I just "dibbed" my next assignment for the IPMS/USA Reviewer Corps. I wonder how much of it I can get done before I have to pack everything and move. *shrug*

Mum got four bags of chocolates for V'Tine's and we've already gotten through half of it. I know she's fueling her romantic writing but the cocoa crash is just as bad as the sugar high.

I made pizza for dinner tonight. It was the second time using the new silicone cookie sheet (layed on top of a metal one when we're ready to bake). Things I should note for reference: 1) no grease or oil is necessary; 2) ample use of flour under the crust is--the crust will absorb a lot of it; 3) the sheet flexes under the rolling pin quite a lot so be careful that you don't roll the crust too thin; 4) the oven should be completely pre-heated before you put in the pizza. This one was satisfying but I think next time I'll make a double-sized batch of crust dough and try to make a thicker pizza. On this one, the mozzarella cheese layer was double the thickness of the crust!

I came upon the entry about ramen and suddenly got hungry all over again. This is becoming habitual.

At least my folks bought two six-packs of Maruchan. Maruchan's my favorite brand of ramen. Nissin's Top/Oodles of Noodles is perhaps number 2, along with Campbell's. I don't care for Smack brand...for some reason it comes out too greasy.

My recipie is simple: cook and drain the noodles, dump the flavor spices on them. To conserve my tastebuds, I set limits on the spice...either one packet of spice for a pack and a half of noodles, or about 2/3rds of a pack of spice for one pack of noodles. Of course, this system ends up giving me an overwhelming surplus of flavor packs...for which I'm searching recipies to use them up.

Time to go cook.
