Our family watched his CBS Evening News programs from 1974 to his retirement at the very least. (I would imagine the viewing habit may have started earlier, but I remember we were more into ABC when we were in Ohio circa 1971~'74.) He didn't just present the news to us, he practically was the face of news to us.
