Love: The scene is a football fan's rec room. Memorabilia and kitsch everywhere, from antique gear to lawn gnomes in team colors. The camera finally rests on the table lamp, an ordinary piece of brass with a plain white shade. The Font comes up: So what's with the lamp?
Next image: a Tiffany-style lamp with the team logo in stained glass.--Available from NFL.com's on-line store!

I love it because it's all Pittsburgh Steelers (yes, I'm from Western Pennsylvania. Problem with that?).

Hate: JCPenney (clothier/department store) is running a back-to-school campaign based on the 1980's movie The Breakfast Club, complete with that insipid and inane (so labeled by the band that made it a hit in the first place, Simple Minds!) theme song "Don't You Forget About Me". The models kid around in shots that are direct rip-offs from scenes from the film.

I didn't care for the movie in the first place. Second, it's as appropriate a match for today's teenagers as Bye-Bye Birdie was for teenagers of my generation--totally wrong! SQUARE! Just the fact that JCPenney is running this underscores how big a fogey they are.
