I was just remembering a sequence from M*A*S*H the TV series in which Maj. Winchester lost a wager to Cpl. Klinger over one of the more memorable seasons in Major League Baseball history. He had a scalpel in his hand and murder in his eyes, and it was as ugly as it was funny.
A new twist for the sports philosophers: Yes, you need to win the first match to win a perfect season--but you DON'T to win the Championship!
Then there's the political angle...Romney vs. H.Clinton. Did they make a side bet on this game? Will it have further ramifications? Will Obama partisans see this as a bad sign going into Super Tuesday?
All I want to know is whether the Giants' biggest fan of all--Andy Rooney--survived. This game may have induced a coronary. :/
FP (who for once is glad he had no "horse" in this race)
