Hey.
The other day I signed the Colbert For President petition on colbertocrat.com. I think he's crazy like a fox...in that he might actually get enough votes to put a delegate or two on the floor of next year's Democrat and Republican National Conventions. A real delegate insider would be worth far more than a press pass at such gatherings these days.
Would I be such a delegate? If they asked me nicely and if I could arrange for a deal on travel and lodging.
FP
PS: I did some quick research on the requirements to be a party delegate. First of all, my pre-existing party affiliation means I can only be a delegate for one party. Second, I have to register/petition to the party at the State level, and I can't start on that till the first of the year, when the State party posts their forms on the party website. I'll have to go through the paperwork, file it on time, and then attend the County level convention, which will be held, probably near the County seat, on the night of the State Primary election. If I win at the County selection, then I would go to the Congressional District convention, whenever that is, and try to win again. If I win there, I would go to the National Convention. If I lose at County or District, I could still get selected as an At-Large delegate, though I would suppose the odds are fairly long.
