Tonight my father tells me the Buick (that we rather gingerly delivered to the repairman July 23rd) is in "teardown" now and that if things with its engine are as bad as feared, he'll have to look for another engine for it.
I just compiled a list of 22 other GM vehicles that share the same engine type I believe (but am not entirely certain) the Buick is equipped with. So Dad can take it to the salvage yards and know what to ask the junkmen.
Wish I were more certain, tho'. It's not my habit to look under the hoods of cars I don't drive to see what the engine type is. As the car is THERE, I can't exactly look under the hood now...and all the paperwork that's supposed to go with it is there too. Meh.

PS: I was right; Skylark's got a 3100cc V6. And Dad had me call Strange Auto Salvage to see about a replacement engine, which they have for a reasonable price. We pay the deposit tomorrow, and they'll pull it out of the junked car next week. Then we'll deliver it to our Mechie and he'll do the engine swap.
