Off-the-shelf way of configuring a rear-engine car...use the front half of the drivetrain of a 4X4 truck and mount THAT on the rear of the chassis! Cooling systems and gearbox linkages would have to be reconfigured, but it also opens the possibility of four-wheel steering and other "innovations".
It's not like there's a dearth of material out there to work from.
