Every so often I pat my right hip...because something that was there till today is gone now.

For the last couple years or so, I had worn a pager-sized monitoring device nearly every waking hour, except for long trips (like to GenCon or Florida). This was the business of a very famous public survey/media survey company, and I was paid a little for the priviledge of wearing it. The company brought the survey to a close this month, and will pay us (Mom and Dad were part of this program too) a little extra severance money. I sent the monitors and their recharger hardware off at the Post Office a few hours ago.

I'm beginning to think I'll eventually need something on my right hip to re-balance me. A cell phone is out of the question. Maybe a Wicked Laser?

From 2010: Odyssey Two:
"...Now open a new file--here is the name." Using the keyboard input, Chandra typed out Phoenix. "Do you know what that is?" he asked SAL.

"There are 25 references in the current encyclopedia."

"Which one do you think is relevant?"

"The tutor of Achilles?"

"Interesting. I didn't know that one. Try again."

"A fabulous bird, reborn from the ashes of its earlier life."

"Excellent. Now do you understand why I chose it?"

"Because you hope that HAL can be reactivated."

"Yes--with your assistance. Are you ready?"

"Not yet. I would like to ask you a question."

"What is it?"

"Will I dream?"

...Some Live--And Others Die )

I like both this remake and the Luis Cardenas version and if I had Remix-Fu powers...

FP (who put the DVD sets of this TV series on his Columbia House wishlist and wonders if they're still available)
