To Take My Mind Off The Craziness...
Dec. 21st, 2006 01:48 am...news that somebody is remaking the 1960s TV series The Prisoner...
...prompts me to share an idea for a fanfic episode.
Title: "The Girl Who Loved Rover"
A strange adolescent girl arrives at the Village, escorted by #2 themself. She's given her own flat very close to #6's place. So she and #6 see a lot of each other.
Whenever Rover comes out to go after/punish a Villager, this girl tries to get in front of Rover and embrace it. The first couple times Rover avoids her--but then she succeeds in getting it to greet her--and Rover almost kills her.
It takes a bit of detective work for #6 to learn about her. She's the daughter of the scientist who invented Rover, and she thinks of Rover as her brother. The inventor has since died, and she's in the Village not as a Prisoner nor as a Warder...but under protective custody. #6 decides to befriend her so that he can learn everything she knows about Rover...and he finds out that her knowledge of it is extensive. Ultimately, he uses her by convincing her to attempt to hijack control of Rover, partly for her own sentimental reasons--but mainly so he can try to escape the Village!
