Hey.

Today I looked through old snapshots, from what I'm sure everybody would now refer to as the "Film Era"...prints in boxes stored that originally came with scale model kits. For a while I was serious about storing my prints in albums, but very quickly the albums became too big and I fell behind on it. I'd like to scan a lot of these shots, but right now I don't have a computer that is compatible with the scanner I have. Either I'll end up buying a new scanner or kludge some sort of system together with my next computer. There always is a next computer.

Anyway, I had photos from the beaches and the piers and the highways and the downtowns and the airports. As a student pilot, I hung out at airports as often as I could. In Florida I could do it all the time, here it's a fairweather thing. In addition to the Museum I mentioned earlier in Clearwater, I went twice to the EAA Museum in Lakeland, on the occasion of their "Sun and Fun" airshows. And I attended MacDill's Airfest four times (and their Fly In/Drive In once), and two airshows at Titusville and one in Kissimmee. And open houses at my "home base", Hernando County Airport near Brooksville. Pictures of airplanes, of places where airplanes are parked, of places where airplanes are fueled, places where the planes take on/let off passengers, places where passengers sit waiting for planes to come and go, pieces of planes, and so on.

Times I wonder if stories can be told solely from pictures...of inanimate objects.

Don't worry, I have plenty of pictures of people too. I'm not that much of a misanthrope--yet. So I have my brother graduating college, and my folks celebrating Christmas at my Uncle Art's place, and my dad and his brothers and brother in law playing penny ante poker, and a few of my mother's booksignings. My sister seated in a recliner with her cat Nike in her lap. And then there's me, sitting down at an airport terminal's phone kiosk--the terminal is so new the phones haven't been installed yet and the lights are low. Smiling, but a little annoyed underneath because the total stranger taking my picture has taken a while to figure my camera out. Yes, I'm there. I've got a past. Maybe not as much as your past. But it will do for me.

If I get a scanner working I'll do my best to share my pics here.
