Full Disclosure: I saw ROBOTECH on its first syndicated run back in '85~'86...but it was the SOUTHERN CROSS storyline that hooked me, not MACROSS SAGA. I bought ROBOTECH ART 1 when it appeared as it explained how the shows from earlier in my childhood (SPEED RACER, BATTLE OF THE PLANETS, STAR BLAZERS and so on) connected with what the Japanese were doing at press time. After that I was all over the novelzations and comics and of course the model kits.
