It's the Pitts

Hey.
The EAA Airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin starts today. Pilots and airplanes from all over the world gather at this event...and for many years I've wanted to go there. It is to general aviation what Sturgis is to motorcyclists.
And continuing that metaphor, I have to mention the Pitts Special. During my shopping trip the other day, I learned from a magazine about the death of Curtis Pitts, designer and creator of the plane that bears his name. This machine is to airplanes what a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is to land transportation. In fact, I bet if that Jesse James dude ever builds a full-scale plane in his Monster Garage, nine chances out of ten it'll be a Pitts or something like it. (Yeah, I can just imagine it too...flame pattern paint job...making the skin fabric look like leather...those Balkan Crosses...chromed struts and wheel spats...)
