We Didn't Get It

I went to the Bandai Channel website the other day, and used AltaVista's Bablefish tool to translate the Japanese to English.

It translated the title Tenchi Muyo! to "This Side Up!"

Now, that makes about as much sense in the context of the show as "Useless Tenchi"...but why didn't the U.S. translators of the show see this?

I didn't get into Tenchi Muyo! when it came along because 1) Ryoko reminded me of quasi-ex-girlfriends and 2) Ayeka reminded me of my older sister, which by extension made ME Sasami! I guess I still don't care all that much for it. *shrug*
