Hey.
Adventure of the day started at about 2PM. Drove to west Knoxville, to a plaza where Computer King (a repair shop for PCs) had been located. Asked a man in an adjacent store where the shop had gone after facing their location's empty facade. Got good directions. Went to their new location. Selected (with the help of a techie/salesman) a new CD-RW Drive for Mom's computer; she paid for it.
Got back in the car and went to a plaza on North Peters for further shopping. Mom did JoAnn's Fabrics, I looked in on Tuesday Morning (first time I went to one) and the Dollar Store With More. I didn't buy anything but I'm sure I'll go back to TM because they have some cheap music CDs that look promising. Mom got a small bolt of fabric and a few cut yards of designer fabric for a project of hers.
Left Knoxville over the 4PM~5PM hour, refueled in Strawberry Plains, went back to the house.
After dinner I did a CD-RW Drive transplant operation on Mom's compy. Installation of both hardware and software went smoothly and I successfully "burned" a data CD. I noticed that the motherboard has space for RAM so I'll have to seek out some.
Anyway, we haven't beaten obsolescence but we have kept it at bay and kept functionality around for the duration.
