Sheriff and His Buddies Pack Samurai Swords...

I just saw Nova (thank whatever soul decided to have PBS rebroadcast the Prime-Time programming in overnight time slots!) on the history, lore and science of the katana. Modern blacksmiths and craftsmen who keep the art of swordmaking alive. Modern samurai displaying the techniques and skill involved in katana combat. The usual Nova visuals, uncovering the processes at the atomic level that make the katana the unique weapon--and technology--that it had been for centuries.

I can't help but think...who could have been so inspired to understand the natures of metals such to invent such a thing? It just amazes me.

Who Likey SWORDS?

Hey.

I just returned from a combination look-for-work/shopping-without-buying-anything jaunt.

The latter was spent briefly at a Warehouse Sales place in Dandridge. I'd noticed their sign a dozen times and decided that today was as good as any other day to visit them.

Okay, so their main building was mainly loaded with collectable dolls and interior decor pieces. And then there were two or three side buildings with tools of all sorts.

But then I came to the last two outbuildings.

SWORDS.

Is there really a huge market for these things now? I mean, there were piles of bogus Excaliburs, nise Ninja-to, counterfeit katana, "fantasy" daggers and knifes, wizard staves, Malfoy cobra-head canes, ersatz heraldric shields, etc. etc. etc.

If you are looking to buy these things I'll gladly point you in the right directions, either physically or phone number or snail addy. But me?--I'm still in culture shock. At least I know where to go in case of goblin invasion.
