I remember somebody who reads me is really into Car Wars. Well, this post is mainly for him.

I bought this pack of cars at a Family Dollar store this afternoon. They're made by Polyfect, a Hong Kong-based company. Family Dollar carries a lot of their diecast in one form or another.

So, the cars:
The Brown one on the left is an early 1980s Pontiac Firebird, of the same type the original KITT and KARR from Knight Rider were based. The toy has a cowboy-like character printed on the hood. (Actually, the car also looks like one of the versions of the Mazda RX-7.)
The Blue one is a Pontiac Firebird of the late 1970s, of the same type used by Bandit in the Smokey & The Bandit movies, by Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files, and by villains in Corvette Summer and Breakdown.
The Red one in the middle looks to me like a Nissan (Pulsar? Sentra? I can't remember.).
The Beige one may be a Mercedes racer but to me it looks like an IMSA Mustang or Capri. This was the toy that attracted me to the particular assortment.
The White one is a Trueno of the same type used by the hero/catering service driver in the anime Initial D. I guess if you have him in Car Wars, he'd be delivering something much more potent than tofu.

The actual toys packed differ from box to box so you could get completely different pieces in the area where you are. But at five for a Dollar, you could get a score of Mook-Mobiles to fill out a table.

If you want, I'll do a step-by-step modding on one or more of these toys and show everybody how it's done.

I just made yet another "original copy" of my 1040EZ form and stuck it in an envelope to mail to the IRS tomorrow.

I don't know if I told you all earlier but nobody who paid me in 2007 bothered to send me any of the paperwork I need to claim "Earned Income" and get a refund. Even though my income for 2007 fell about four thousand dollars BELOW the minimum for taxable income. First try of sending a return, I tried to claim a modest refund, but not one covering my whole income (I had my reasons). They rejected it. I send my second one asking them to figure out my refund. They refused. So with this return, I'm giving up on claiming a refund.

Now, if I'm not obliged to pay taxes, and I'm not getting a refund, the point of filing is rather slim. Perhaps I'll get the "Stimulus" refund, but I am not sure I qualify, as I don't live on my own and am not paying 2007 taxes anyway. But at the same time, who wants trouble with the IRS? I hate vicious circles.
